Visiting Cancun? Go to Orphanage

Cheap Tickets Canada purchased shoes in 2008 that were taken to Casa Hogar Esperanza in the outskirts of Cancun (Bonfil). It is a great experience to help out the local communities while on vacation.

Hi there,

A couple of my friends and I are travelling to Cancun in Febuary of 2009. I have read your blog about your visit Casa Hogar Esperanza and we are really interested in venturing out there to visit with the children. I am asking for donations from my university..donations of all sorts (shoes, toothpaste and tooth brushes, small toys, etc). Is there anything you could suggest that the orphanage needs? How far away from Cancun is Banfil? Is it hard to travel to? If you could get back to me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Cancun Orphanage

Bonfil is a suburb of Cancun, it only takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get there from Cancun. Bonfil is a very run down neighbourhood and it is not hard to find Casa Hogar Esperanza (we just asked one of the villagers who pointed us in the right direction) once you drive into the village. It is in the Southwest side of the village. Our family is going back to the orphanage in the first week of December 2008 to bring them shoes from Cheap Tickets Canada. We look forward to going back again.

Question Cancun 2009

Hi, I have always wanted to help out at an orphanage and I will be in Cancun, Mexico Jan 8-14th. Do you know if cheapticketscanada.com has anything else that needs taken to the orphanage in Bonfil or if there is any other way to help out at an orphanage? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Alison

Our Return to the Orphanage

Our family had the opportunity to return to "Casa Hogar Esperanza" in Bonfil, Mexico. We were only there for a day during a Western Caribbean cruise. We were able to drop off shoes for the children at the orphanage (although the shoes were too small for 4 of the older children). When we asked what additional needs they have we were advised that clothing is always needed and appreciated.

To get to the orphanage just go to the town of Bonfil (the edge of Cancun - off the highway in the direction of Tulum) take a left turn at the second or third street and the orphanage is on the right. Point to the name of the orphanage on a piece of paper to anyone in town and as long as you know arm waiving language you should find it. I will try to get an exact address.

A friend and I are going to Cancun the last week of July. Is there anything else needing/ready to go down there?
