Cheap Tickets Canada.com supports Literacy Efforts.
Victoria, BC / April 9, 2008 – Cheap Tickets Canada.com and Cheap Tickets and Travel are excited to continually be involved in literacy campaigns.
"We have had the opportunity to sponsor school fund raisers to help raise money for libraries and this past year our staff have participated in raising money for Literacy projects by hawking newspapers during Canwest's annual Raise a Reader day." reports company President, Normand Schafer.
Most recently Cheap Tickets Canada.com helped sponsor the Victoria Times Colonist's book drive where over 100,000 books were collected, sold and donated to schools in order to raise funds and awareness for nationwide litteracy efforts. These literacy projects will benefit people of all ages. Literacy is still a major problem in Canada. According to Statistics Canada's 2003 Adult Literacy Report, 15% or one in seven Canadians "have problems dealing with printed materials".
In its continuing efforts Cheap Tickets Canada produced over 15,000 full colour bookmarks encouraging people to "Read It. Dream It. Live It." These bookmarks are available to literacy groups across Canada upon request.
