There is so much to see and do. Let us know when you'll get here and I can tell you what events are going on. But until then, here are just a few amazing experiences and great places:
- Visit Halifax, great dining, harbour and city tours, fun pubs with traditional music. If you are lucky you'll be in in Town for the Tall Ships Festival in July 16-29. But there are many others. Halifax boasts a vibrant night life, great museums and great little shops all throughout the downtown district.
- Venture out the the Eastern Shore. There's a great sandcastle competition in Clam Harbour there in August. Maybe take a surfing lesson on Lawrencetown beach. Or walk Nova Scotia's longest beach, Martinique. Or tour Sherbrook Village, known for a look at Nova Scotia's largest museum complex showcasing the industrial boom of the late 1800's to early 1900's.
- Check out Peggy's Cove for some rock jumping and maybe a picnic and some kayaking. Then drive along the South Shore to the picturesque Old Town of Lunenburg is a World Heritage UNESCO site and you can catch a public cruise on the BluenoseII. Be sure to visit Kejimkujik National Park for some hiking. Or check out St. Margaret's Bay or Lunenburg for some Deep Sea Fishing charters.
- Head on to the Annapolis Valley. You're in wine country so check out some Vineyards, Gran Pre, Gaspereau Vineyards, Blomidan Estate Winery. Take the kids out to Oaklawn Zoo or to Upper Clements park. Go pick some blueberries if they are in season. They're the best or check out the Farmer's market. The Bay of Fundy experiences the highest and lowest tides in the world, take a look at Joggins Fossils and find out where the dinosaurs roamed, go whale watching or tidal bore rafting.
- As you head towards Cape Breton, make sure you stop at a few places on the Northumberland Shore. Check out Jost vineyards, or the Blueberry and Maple Centre in Oxford. Stop at the Hector Quay in Pictou, Sea Kayak in River John or Antigonish. Check out Sugar Moon Farms in Earltown.
- On to Cape Breton. Like music, check out the Red Shoe Pub in Mabou, owned by the famous Rankin Family or the Cape Breton Celtic Music Interpretive Centre in Judique. You might just catch a good old fashioned Ceilidh. Be sure to take in the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. Make your way to the famous Cabot Trail. Cheking out Fortress Louisbourg is a must. and head to Cape Breton Highlands National Park and be sure to check out the fantastic waterfalls. Check out Joe's Scarecrow Village between Margaree harbour and Cheticamp. You read that right. He's collected over a 100, great photo op!
