visiting puerto vallarta

I am planning a visit to Puerto Vallarta next winter. I would like to go for six weeks during the January to March period. All the travel web sites, including cheaptickets, limit reservations to 30 days. Plus, when trying to reserve through a web site, I am quoted the regular, per night rate. How can I reserve for the full six weeks and, if possible, get a discount from the per night rate. Do I have to phone each hotel and try to get a deal?
