Deal Reached for Air canada
Air Canada passengers can breathe a sigh of relief after a tentative agreement was reached Tuesday afternoon to avert a strike by flight attendants.
“We’ve got workers … who actually saved the corporation,” Sid Ryan, president of the Ontario Federation of Labour, said.
Ryan said rollbacks in 2004 amounted to 20 per cent per worker, adding one flight attendant he spoke with gave up some $70,000 in rolled-back wages over the past seven years.
“How about investing a little bit back in your employees?” Ryan said. “... Show them some decency. Show them some respect.”
Supporting the flight attendants were members of the autoworkers, steelworkers, postal workers, machinists and dispatchers unions.
