Auckland


Auckland is a large city with a very distinct skyline thanks to it's popular landmark the Sky Tower. I spent a day in this city which is all a person needs to do while visiting New Zealand. There are a few things to do, but a day is more than enough time to spend in this Capitol of New Zealand.


During my day in Auckland I walked along the marine coastline which was filled with hundreds of sailboats, water taxi's, cargo ships and harbour tour boats. It was low season so the $29 – 90 minute boat tours were offering the first 10 seats for $10 per person. Although I was tempted by the offer I didn't know if I would have enough time so I headed off for the iconic Sky Tower that hovers over double...

Introduction

I am travelling with my wife Kirsten and five children Alyssa (12), Jaeden (10), Dailin (8), Orin (6) and Eli (3) for a two and a half month adventure to the South Pacific. The first two weeks will be in the Cook Islands (Rarotonga 11 days and then to Aitutaki where we will stay in the islands' most affordable shack for 3 days).

We will then head off for Tahiti for two months. While in Tahiti we will be staying with two families (of friends). Another friend also has a husband who works on the cargo ships which distributes goods throughout the Society Islands so we will have some real adventurous sea sick stories to tell.
